Our second Happy Hour venture was Hooters at Lake Union. Yah, you heard me right. When making this week's choice, we had to keep in mind that the NCAA basketball tournament was on, so a place that televised this was a must. So, knowing that Hooters has "great wings"
and televisions, we thought we'd go see what else it had to offer. Upon entering, we first noticed that the waitresses have changed their uniforms. Instead of the infamous orange shorts and white tanks, they are now dressed all in black. Although it was hard to accept this change at first, we decided the new outfits are definitely more flattering. Our waitress was great. She hula-hooped and carried pitchers of beer on her head. She single-handedly made up for the uncomfortable stools we were sitting on and the lacquered-wood atmosphere that is, well, Hooters. We kicked it old school and drank pitchers of Coors Light and had wings while watching the tourney. Good times.
Happy Hour Menu: Half off pitchers of domestic beer and appetizers. 4-6pm
Recommendations: naked, bone-in wings, Hot. If you don't say naked, they come out smelling like a tub of fried butter. Which I liked, but no one else did.
*Special note: The girls bathroom has a machine that sells those awful brown tights the waitresses wear. You can choose Suntan a, b, or c. I may have gotten a pair. Oh yah, by the third pitcher I also bought a Hooters tank top. Funny.
I must also admit that after we had our Happy Hour fun at Hooters we headed over to nearby Joey's for some more fun and libations. Excellent dirty Martinis and good Manhattans. And, I might add, a much more upscale clientele than Hooters.
